KinoConsole Pro Game Streaming App Reviews

Very good app

Im actually pleased by it but their are some bugs like the only d pad right thing and the audio quality is pretty horrid but other than that a very very good app im satisfied

Very solid streaming solution!

I was able to get Fallout 3 streaming perfectly from my Steambox to my iPad with no trouble at all. I was having issues with Steam In-home Streaming and Moonlight (they both try to abstract the game launching process, which interferes with things like the new Steam Controller custom mappings), but had no such problems with this app. The video quality is exceptional too. I wasnt thinking about the fact that I was streaming the game; it was immersive enough that I might as well have been sitting in front of my TV. App interface isnt terribly pretty, but thats forgivable considering how solid the functionality is. Highly recommended.

Does what it says but...

Its a neat app. Does what it says. I was able to play many games including fallout 4 with almost unnoticeable lag. Sadly the image doesnt improve with the paid version so Id rather game or watch movies on a monitor. Secondly, VR games on PC already have lower resolution, which is made abhorrent with this app, head tracking works well though! Stick with free version, 60 fps and HD picture just dont work. I wasted $5, save yours. If something changes Ill make sure to update this.

Beta quality at best

The idea of this software is really cool, and to an extent it kind of works. However, the software is very immature, buggy, and lacks features. The biggest problem - the touchscreen D pad does not work. No matter where you press it registers a right directional input. This bug came into the app after they fixed the more general touchscreen fail but (finally) after several unanswered emails. You can play over the Internet (sometimes) when you have a good connection, but there is an issue where after a minute or two of play performance drops off regardless of connection speed and within a few minutes it is unplayable (like really unplayable, not the 5 FPS you started with) Im no expert on streaming tech but theres some major problem there with a framed dropping or some kind of leak. As far as features go, it has a cool launcher thing so you dont have to vnc the desktop, but the problem is it tries to lock focus onto the game window, and if you somehow end up not in the game window you can get stuck and have no way to get back in without getting access to the server. Would be much better if they gave us some basic vnc tools (like send alt tab or escape or Carl alt delete if not a window switching feature) this becomes a major problem when you are playing a game, close your tablet, then reopen kinoconsole. It makes you use the launcher no matter what theres no option to just skip to the extant stream, and when you do it tries to Relaunch! A game that is already running, leading to errors (not usually a serious error, but if an alert comes up at all you have no way of navigating away from it) In short, it needs a way to resume play. Lots of little bugs I dont have time to list, even basic taken for granted things are missing like screen rotation support. It only works "upside down" from the perspective of my case. All in all this software is a good idea, so it gets two stars, but it seriously needs work and should not be released to the public in its current state, especially not for money. As far as money goes, still waiting to hear back about my refund.

Seems like a Beta

The games will randomly shut down and when i activate the keyboard, it freezes gameplay...but it doesnt unfreeze. I think this is a great idea, but ive downloaded moonlight it and works perfectly with no issues. I would like to use Kino in the future since it offers some cool features, but until they fix it, it isnt worth it. If you believe in them, download this and pay for it to support them, but it isnt ready yet.

Fix it

Overall I am satisfied with it. But as mentioned by the other users some issues needs to be fixed...like when I activate the keyboard the app freezes....and while gaming..the sound is not synchronizing well with the video (despite the update). I am using an iPad 2 on iOS 9.1 with Windows 10 and a 5ghz router. I heard some people complaining about lag but I found absolutely no lag on the video. And the video quality is much better on paid version. $5 price tag is very competitive compared to what you need to spend on a Nvidia shield setup. I will recommend it to everyone. The developers need support to make the app better. Keep up the good work.

Best solution for iOS and AMD card

Paid works better than free. Stop complaining about a $5 refund and support these guys. My biggest complaint is that it doesnt have cellular functionality yet. I hope they release this soon. There is no lag on 5ghz network for video or audio as long as I dont stray too far from the router. My computer is upstairs with power line connect to router downstairs. I have not had any issues with the d-pad as others have said. I have not tried the VR yet so I cannot speak to that. The on screen controls are alright. Somewhat difficult to set up. Probably best to play on mfi controller anyway. The bug that wont allow the game to run full screen is annoying and can prevent you from playing certain games. The ability to see the mouse cursor would be essential with certain games and should be fixed. Overall, works great, easy to set up, but still room for improvement.

DO NOT BUY THIS APP

This app is very buggy and it will crash consistently. The latency is pretty well the same as Splash Top. Splash Top is free, offers the same and better quality features. Dont waste your money.

Almost good

This is promising at first; but high quality games stream close to 5 fps, clear delay, and when it runs games perfectly it will disconnect after about 45 seconds of really good streaming. Please fix, I want this to work.

Finally figured it out

For people that cant connect, go to settings on wifi then go back into the app. Just do this and go back into the app and give it 6 seconds, and bam all your games load up without fail each time. If you have trouble with crashing, make sure your game is at least in windowed borderless and that bluetooth is temporarily off. In VR, it works better with bigger phones or else its kinda blurry. But make sure the first value is the x axis, second value is none, and third value is y axis. Make sure you click ok on the windows server or it wont save your settings and it will keep crashing. After u do this, it will boot u out the first time, but when u go back in there will be no more lags, latency, or crashes.

You have made the Google Cardboard awesome!

Wow. If you have the Google Cardboard, get this. With head tracking and dual rendering turned on (and Xbox controller emulation turned off to avoid disconnects), this turns your Windows games like Skyrim and Portal into a full VR experience!

This doesnt hold a candle to nVidia Shield.

I want to preface this with the fact that my host PC is hooked directly to my router, which is a Netgear R8000, and all results are via a 5ghz network that works beautifully when I stream via my shield or Steam streaming. I understand that there are quite a few people that havent tried streaming via an nV shield, however, I have owned a Shield portable and currently own a Shield TV, and use it regularly. In addition, my kids do a fair amount of Steam streaming in order to take advantage of my more powerful gaming server in the living room. However, this app, is simply not functional in a state that should be visible to customers.

Notifications break it

Anytime I get a notification from other apps, the screen goes black and I have to disconnect/reconnect to get it to work. Please fix this

Larger vr screen

Can you make the vr rectangles larger than 2 small ones make them more vertical please

Do not buy

This app works joust like the free version theres no significant difference between the two. I would love to have my money back

Remote is excellent, but Not yet for VR

It works perfectly for just remote Control, but it crashes when I turn on side by side option. And sometimes vertical head tracking (mouse Y) dont work. Without turning on side by side option, it works perfectly. Super low latency, and high quality streaming, smooth games play. And I also tried to stream with tridef 3D without turning on side by side option in this app, but it also crashes. You can buy this app, just for remote. Go for it. But if you want to buy this for VR .. Not yet. It dont work. But sometimes work with low resolution and 30 fps, so you can try it with free version of this app.

Glitches, and bugs, and crashes! Oh, my!

Having rolled team red (AMD), its nice to see a streaming app that isnt in bed with nVidia. However this app as many issues, and is almost completely unusable. It drops connections on a fairly regular bases, games will freeze, and the app will sometimes just out right crash. It could be promising if Kinoni can hammer out these issues in a timely manner, but as of right now this app is kind of a mess, and couldnt recommend it.

DOES NOT WORK

Hope the developers die in a fire. I wasted 15$ on this crap app that dosent do anything. It dosent launch the game all it does is show a black screen. And I bought the KinoVR and this app and neither do anything. I want my money back.

Needs an update

Super buggy crashes a lot other then that it its a cool idea

Please fix

Please make this work better! I love the app besides my game disconnects over and over again. It please try to fix it
